SBS: 400,000 Australians pay up to A$5,000 a year as Wegovy stays off the PBS

SBS reports that about 400,000 Australians currently pay up to A$5,000 a year for Wegovy, Ozempic and other GLP-1s because weight-management use is not on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme. The federal government is negotiating with Novo Nordisk to list Wegovy for a small extra cohort, which would cut the price to A$25 a script, or A$7.70 for concession card holders, while Novo expects the newly approved pill to be available before the end of the year.
