Medsafe is reviewing New Zealand's first application for the Wegovy pill

New Zealand's medicines regulator Medsafe has received its first application for oral Wegovy tablets, submitted under a reliance pathway that uses trusted overseas assessments and aims for an initial review in about 75 working days. The Royal New Zealand College of GPs' medical director, Dr Prabani Wood, said a tablet would give people options but funding is still undecided; injectable Wegovy can cost around NZ$600 and is not publicly funded for most people.
