Australia's TGA clears the Wegovy pill, the country's first oral GLP-1

Australia's Therapeutic Goods Administration has approved Novo Nordisk's daily Wegovy pill (oral semaglutide) in 1.5mg, 4mg, 9mg and 25mg strengths, the first oral GLP-1 cleared there for weight management. Packaging and production still need a final check before it reaches pharmacies, Novo aims for availability by the end of 2026, and the pill will not be PBS-subsidised for weight loss. Eli Lilly's Foundayo (orforglipron) is still waiting on a TGA decision.
