NHS GP Dr Amir Khan says hunger hormones return to pre-treatment levels within about four weeks of stopping, and studies suggest around 60% of lost weight comes back within a year without lasting lifestyle changes. He notes the NHS generally advises at least two years of treatment, and some people may need longer.
