GLP-1 drugs linked to fewer heart attacks and deaths in people with serious mental illness
A WashU Medicine analysis of records from more than 218,000 adults with serious mental illness, type 2 diabetes and obesity found GLP-1 users had lower rates of heart attack, heart failure and death, with the strongest links for semaglutide and tirzepatide. The study, in the Journal of the American Heart Association, is observational.
